A perfume format generally associated with a high proportion of fragrance concentrate.
Also known as: extrait, perfume extract
Not to be confused with: Eau de parfum
An extrait can be a distinct composition rather than a stronger copy of another version. A greater proportion of concentrate does not create a simple, predictable increase in diffusion. Test the actual product and follow its application instructions.
You compare an extrait with the EDP and find the extrait softer in the air but fuller up close.
“The extrait wears close on me, with a fuller woody character.”
Extrait does not mean pure undiluted fragrance material. It is not automatically the loudest or longest-lasting version.
Do not automatically link the bare word “parfum”: it is ambiguous in product names and ingredient labels.
